Why This Part?
“When I built my first teardrop trailer, I used an old-school hurricane hinge that didn’t come with a rain gutter. It looked great—but let’s just say my hatch was about as watertight as a screen door in a submarine. I’ve learned a few things since then.
That’s why I’m a fan of this Hurricane Hinge with Rain Gutter. It keeps the vintage look I love—low-profile, rugged aluminum—but adds something I wish I had from the start: a built-in rain gutter. It channels water off the sides instead of letting it creep down your galley walls. Game changer.” – Mark (Owner at Overland Trailer)

Installation & Fit
Hurricane Hinge with Rain Gutter Installation is straightforward. Just secure it with screws every 4 inches along the length—no special tools needed. Most builders prefer a teardrop galley hinge slightly longer than the trailer’s width so water sheds off the ends, not into the walls. A more waterproof hinge than the traditional hurricane hinges in the past.
- Works seamlessly with our DIY Teardrop Trailer Kits
- Ideal for 5×8 and 5×10 builds
